In this Metro Exodus Survival Guide, we will give you some of the best ways you can increase your survival tactics with the strategies we have listed below. This guide will detail the resource collect, weapon and gear maintenance, stealth and day and night combat approaches of the gameplay.
If you are just beginning with the Metro series of games, and if Metro Exodus is your first game of the franchise, things can be very puzzling in trying to figure out what is happening and how to get resources. This guide will show you how you can start with the right foot.
Metro Exodus Survival Guide
Below we will detail how to survive in Metro Exodus to get the most out of your gameplay, and to play the game as it is meant to be played.
Gathering Resources
This cannot be stressed enough as resources are scarce in this world where there is nothing but ruins and monsters. Gathering any resources in the game allow you to take advantage of a new crafting mechanic introduced in Metro Exodus. These include combine materials to form useful items that are necessary in the open world of the game.
Gas mask filters, medkits and weapon resources are all invaluable items that cannot and should not be skipped. As you heavily rely on them, your priority while exploring should always be in gathering resources to craft these items.
When out in the open, do not worry on just reaching the objective and miss out on a lot valuables spread around in the area where you are passing by. Search the room that you think might have something, which usually does.
You will come across two types of items in the game. Chemicals and Metals. Chemicals allow you to craft medkits that heal your wounds with the help of patches. Chemicals are also used for Molotov cocktails, and cleaning weapons. You can get chemical from green mushrooms that are usually found glowing on the ground.
Metals allow you to craft weapons and ammo, and most of these are found in the form of tools or scraps and bits of metal lying around.
Weapons
Even though the game is all about survival and stealth, it still requires you to combat some enemies. Which you would as the game is also a first person shooter. Finding the best weapon that suits your style and upgrading them with attachments can bring your combat advantage miles ahead.
Though you will have the Kalash in the beginning of the game, you can hunt down a shotgun that is much powerful and devastating from close range. This is best for monsters that come towards you to attack.
You can also keep a secondary weapon, which we think should be a Revolver as it basically one of the best all round weapon in the game.
Weapon and Gear Maintenance
The more you use your weapon, the more it degrades over time. Your weapons collect grime and other nasty stuff that can jam your weapon when it’s the last thing to happen during combat.
To make sure you do not end up with a jammed weapon, its best to maintain all the weapons and clean them with chemicals. If you do not clean your weapons, they also lose accuracy.
Your gas mask is not unbreakable, it can take damage, and have holes in it that can compromise its effectiveness. While you can patch any holes in the gas mask with temporary patches, you cannot totally rely on them to work efficiently forever. Be sure to craft patches that can cover up holes in your gear, so that you can keep yourself alive.
Day and Night Combat
A new feature in the game features the gameplay style that can change during the day and night of the world in Metro Exodus. During the day, you are most likely to have a better view of where you are going and to find more resources to collect for yourself. Daytime is also safe to keep you away from monsters as they are usually hunters of the night.
However, the night time is a totally different experience. Though the place crawls with monsters and other creatures, it allows you to go through many of your main story missions as the most dangerous places become less occupied, and more easy for you to sneak around in the darkness. But of course, keeping it clean and avoiding any unnecessary confrontation will always lead you to a good ending.
Stealth is Key
Its not always about going in guns blazing in Metro Exodus. Especially considering when you are on limited ammo and resources. This is why avoiding confrontation and proceeding with a stealthier approach can make things much easier for you.
With stealth, you are more likely to complete the whole game with a good ending with maintaining your reputation at the end. Because it reduces confronting an enemy, you are also not wasting any ammo.
Talk to Characters
Sometimes, you need some help in finding resources and valuable items. This is where talking to the NPCs will give you the advantage in ways that you can find rare items and secrets.
Keeping it social around the community can reward you with some very useful attachments or pieces of gear that might help you greatly in finishing the game. So it is best to talk to the people around you.
