A new leak has shown the images of Respawn Vans in Fortnite Battle Royale, suggesting that the respawning features may be coming very soon. The respawn mechanic is an idea that has been popularized by Apex Legends in the genre of battle royale games.
Mysterious vans have now started to show up in Fortnite’s Replay Mode in this season. The vans are not accessible or drive-able and are placed in specific locations of the map. the vans look like small Battle Bus with a large hologram of the default skin player on the roof.
The leak was provided by a Twitter user by the name of FortTory who discovered the vans. The user also discovered that the names of the vans were “SC_Machine”, which apparently stands for Second Chance machine.

Another user by the name of Lucas7yoshi has found a file in the game that is called Second Chance Card. The item is appears to be the same that is used in Fortnite’s Save the World mode, with the same logo that is found on the Second Chance Vans.
All of this is leading players to believe that this new respawn feature in Fortnite will work just like Apex Legends. In Apex Legends, players can pick up the banners of their fallen teammates and go to a respawn beacon to call them back in the map. This essentially allows players a “second chance” to fight alongside teammates and not completely be out of the fight.
In Fortnite, Second Chance Cards sound pretty similar to what the banners are in Apex Legends. It is most likely that if this feature is introduced, the Second Chance Cards can be picked up by players to revive their teammates from the Second Chance Van locations.
Epic had previously hinted that they are looking in the possibility of bringing a respawning feature in Fortnite. The developer also admitted that they were looking into the ping system like in Apex Legends. The ping system has already been added in the latest Season 8 of the game. This only suggests that the respawning feature is just around the corner.
The pinging of an item marks any item that you point and interact with, marking the items locations for your teammates to pick up. A feature like pinging works best when playing with randoms, that are usually not with a microphone, or during games when conversations are nonexistent.
With the success of the ping system in Apex Legends, a feature that it was praised very highly for, Epic Games wasted no time in bringing the same feature into Fortnite within 4 weeks.
