Capcom has announced that the original Devil May Cry is heading to Nintendo Switch this summer. The original title was released back in 2001 on PS2 and it set the par for combat games along with its stellar visuals and an amazing character roster. The game was a huge hit and it quickly made a dedicated fan base around the world which has kept the franchise alive to this day.
Devil May Cry has seen different sequels with the most recent one releasing this year back in March. It was also a solid entry in the franchise however it did not have the impact the original one had in the video game industry back in the day. Devil May Cry has seen the screens of different platforms however it was missing Nintendo for a long time but now it seems that the franchise is heading there from where it all began.
The news of the fast-paced hack n slash title coming to Nintendo Switch was released by Capcom via their official Twitter account. A confirmed release date has not been announced at this point but it certainly has a Summer 2019 window. No gameplay or screenshots of the Nintendo Switch version has been released so far as well.

Nintendo Switch has seen some other Capcom titles being ported to it as well which includes Resident Evil ports. Devil May Cry is already out on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in the Devil May Cry HD Collection so it is a little weird that why would Capcom only release the first one on the console and not the whole trilogy in one go.
Maybe the remaining titles will eventually find their way to Nintendo’s flagship console sometime later in the future. This also opens up the chances of Dante coming in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC character and this announcement might be just in time to celebrate Dante’s arrival on the portable console.
More details on this will be announced at a later stage. Are you looking forward to playing Devil May Cry on your Nintendo Switch? Let us know in the comments section below.
