Fans of the most popular TV show ever, Game of Thrones, can now experience the northernmost part of Westeros with the new Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall VR adventure game.
The VR game is available right now and is developed by Framestore. If you always wanted to become a sworn brother of the Night’s Watch or a Crow as the Wildlings would call you, then this VR adventure is your best bet. It will give you a way to explore the Lands of Always Winter by being a Ranger, and live the horrors that only Old Nan talked about in stories.
The Lands Beyond the Wall are best talked about in the books of A Song of Ice and Fire, and while the TV show has never done any justice to the true barren and cold lands that they are, you can now get to experience them in VR and fight the Wights. Since you assume the role as the sworn brother of the Night’s Watch, your job is to defend the Wall from the Wights and dead bears with a flaming sword.
The trailer for the game shows the cold barren lands where you traverse, and out come the dead from the blizzard that attack you. Take a look at the trailer below:
To play the game though, you need the HTC Viveport Infinity subscription as it is a Viveport exclusive game. The service allows users to access many of the apps and games that are in its library. It also gives exclusive membership benefits such as the revamped Viveport Video application. The subscription costs $12.99 per month, and a compatible VR gaming headset. You need to have either the HTC Vive or the Oculus Rift to be able to experience the VR adventure.
Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall VR is available in the US, UK, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. There are no details if the game would be available in other territories in the future, as it seems this may be because of licensing issues with HBO.
