Microsoft has announced that it will remove Forza Motorsport 6 along with all of its DLC packs and expansions next month. This was announced back on their official blog post when they detailed Forza Horizon 4’s Series 12 Update along with other Forza franchise updates. Forza Motorsport 6 is not the first title to get axed from the digital storefront in recent times.
However, people who have already purchased the game including its DLC will not be affected in any way. They will be able to install, uninstall and reinstall the game just fine. Only new buyers will not be able to purchase the game or its DLC digitally. Physical copies still in the market will also be available to anyone who wants to purchase them.
If anyone wants to get the game, Microsoft has given out the game for free in this month’s Games with Gold. The title is basically free for everyone who wants to grab the game while it is still on the store. In addition, if you want to purchase all DLC and expansions for the game as well, everything is available at a super low price of just $5. So you grab the game free with Games with Gold and then spend $5 for all DLC and expansions and you will not have to worry about anything.
Microsoft removing Forza Motorsport 6 along with its DLC and expansion just shows another side of digital sales. Games are never safe and despite developer promises, they can never assure that they are always available for sale there. Microsoft has even released a disc-less Xbox One console which is meant for digital purchases only but if Microsoft keeps removing its own exclusives like this, it is not going to send a very powerful message to the buyers.
I know that Forza Motorsport 6 is now old and Forza Motorsport 7 is already out but since I love playing racing games and especially Forza, I have all titles installed in my system even if newer ones come out. You play the new titles and then a time comes when you simply want to revisit your own titles. Only because of this, I will keep opting for physical discs rather than digital purchases.
Forza Motorsport 6 along with its DLC and expansion packs will be removed from Xbox Digital Store on September 15, 2019.
