How to Obtain Essence of Failure Quest in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep
To obtain the Essence of Failure quest, you will need to acquire the Essence of Failure first. It is dropped randomly from higher-level enemies so there is no particular way of obtaining this very essence. You will need to continue to find and kill high-level enemies until you find the Essence of Failure. Once you do, pick it up and the quest will be added to your log.
To complete this story quest, you will be tasked with three objectives. These are Activities Completed, Auto Rifle Kills and Captive Cord Found. For the first objective, you will need to explore the Moon and complete as many patrols, public events, and Lost Sectors so that the percentage reaches 100. For the second objective, simply get 50 kills with any Auto Rifle of your choice. The last objective, however, is to find the Captive Cord.
Finding the Captive Cord in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep
The main item that you need to find for this quest is the Captive Cord which is a weapon part for your reward. You will actually find the Captive Cord in Sorrow’s Harbor. Head to the lower section of the area which has the small entrance leading to Lunar Battlegrounds. Inside you will find tons of enemies which will give you a good spot to nab those 50 kills with an Auto Rifle as well.
To find the Captive Cord, after emerging from the main entrance, stick to the left side and move to the right where a small tunnel-like area will take you towards a large structure at the end of the area. You must make your way to the top of this structure where an icon will appear leading you to the exact spot of the Captive Cord. Once you have it and all objectives are complete, turn in to receive the Arc Logic Assault Rifle for your trouble.
