id Software has announced that Doom Eternal has been delayed. The game has now been pushed into Spring 2020. This was announced by id Software on their official Twitter account where they posted an update on Doom Eternal. The major reason behind the delay has been announced by the developer as they want more time to make the game better when it comes out.
This is not normal for developers to delay their games however Doom Eternal was one of the most anticipated titles this fall. I’m pretty sure that fans who have been following the game updated throughout the year would be pretty disappointed to hear about the delay at the last moment. Doom Eternal was slated to release originally on November 22, 2019.
The new release date puts the game well inside the Spring 2020 window however sometimes it is better to delay the game and release a better and complete product when it comes out. We have seen numerous times when developers try to meet deadlines and end up releasing a half-baked product which not only ruins the franchise but also upsets the fans to a great extent.

However, fans would be glad to know that id Software has shared some more information on the post-launch content arriving in Doom Eternal. This includes the all-new Invasion Mode which will allow players to enter another player’s game as a demon, will arrive sometime later after the release as a free update. The Nintendo Switch version will also arrive a little late. Apart from this, Doom 64 is now a pre-order bonus for Doom Eternal.
Apart from purchasing Doom 64 separately on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, if you pre-order Doom Eternal on any platform, you will instantly get access to Doom 64 for free to download and play while you wait for Doom Eternal to arrive next year. The new release date for Doom Eternal is March 20, 2020. A Nintendo Switch release date will be announced later.
