Activision Blizzard’s new entry in the mobile platform Call of Duty Mobile has been downloaded more than 100 million times since the first week after the launch of the game.
These numbers were reported by the market analyst Sensor Tower. The number of downloads puts the game above any other mobile game in the first week of launch. Call of Duty Mobile has now beaten the previous 90 million record set by Mario Kart Tour. The majority of downloads reported by Sensor Tower are from iOS, while the rest are from Android.
The game also beat other major titles like Fortnite and PUBG Mobile which were downloaded 22.5 million and 28 million times respectively. Though this number is of the first week of downloads since launch, Call of Duty Mobile is miles ahead of these titles.
So what is it about this game and what is new to the mobile platform? Well, the biggest thing is that the game is free to play, but comes with its own in-game purchases where players can buy weapon skins and other such items. This however, is nothing new as many titles come out free on mobile platforms but feature in-game purchases in their in-game stores.
On the other hand, the game itself features a lot of mechanics that have been a part of the previous titles in the Call of Duty franchise. You can play the game in first-person view, with the use of your thumbs to shoot down hostile enemies. In addition, it also features a lot of classic Call of Duty maps from titles like Black Ops and Modern Warfare. Some of which are die-hard fan favorites. If that is not enough, it also comes with a Battle Royale mode. This genre of gaming needs no explanation and has been added to challenge the might of both Fortnite and PUBG Mobile.
