A sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn is likely going to be making its way as it seems in development. A job listing was posted online by Guerrilla Games, which is looking to hire new people to work on the sequel.
If you have played Horizon Zero Dawn, you know that the game emphasizes on the natural environment and how detailed it is in the open lands of the game. It seems that the developers want more of this in the sequel as the job listing wanted to fill in the vacancy of a Technical Vegetation Artist. The listing also described what role the company expects to be filled in this position where the focus would be on “the creation of vegetation assets that are used to dress the game world.”
The job listing also talked about the environment art team that has already worked Horizon Zero Dawn game for the PlayStation 4.
Within Guerrilla, we have four teams dedicated to creating the stunning environments of Horizon. One team focuses on the creation of lush and stunning vegetation. We build these 3D models from scratch, so our world dressing teams can deliver our immersive world with industry-benchmark graphics.
A sequel of Horizon Zero Dawn would not be surprising after the success of the game. It also suggests that the game might be preparing for a next-gen release as PlayStation 5 releases next year. If that is the case, we might get not get to see the game as early as 2021 or later.
We hope to hear from both Guerrilla Games and Sony about the development of the game. It would be interesting to hear how the developers are going to make use of the next-gen console and implement new features for the players on the PlayStation 5.
