Techland Has Delayed Dying Light 2 For an Indefinite Period

Dying Light 2 Delayed

2020 is not shaping up to be a great year so far when it comes to AAA titles. In the first month, we are reporting the fourth biggest AAA title of 2020 to be delayed and this time around, we don’t even have a confirmed release window now. The latest delay comes from Techland who announced that Dying Light 2 has been delayed and more details about a possible release date or window will be shared later.

The studio said in their official Tweet which was simply termed as a development update that the studio needs more to develop the game and polish it as well. The earlier release window of Spring 2020 is not their main release target anymore and more details about when we can expect Dying Light 2 to release will be announced later. No release date or window has been announced by Techland in their latest development which makes us believe that Dying Light 2 might eventually skip this generation completely.

The release of next-generation consoles at the end of this year is a big change for all developers and maybe this is the reason why developers want to release their AAA titles closer to their release because they are mostly aiming for releases on next-generation as well. We knew that Dying Light 2 will release on next-generation however it looks like Techland is now aiming to release both the current-gen and the next-gen version of the game at the same time.

Previously, CD Projekt Red announced that they are delaying Cyberpunk 2077 into September 2020 and before that Square Enix delayed two of its titles Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Marvel’s Avengers. Delays are mostly good because in most cases we eventually end up with a game that is better and much more stable across the board. 2020 might be off to a slow start but we now have plenty of amazing titles lined up post-E3 2020.
