Rainbow Six: Siege has finally reworked one of its most hated operators in the game, Tachanka. The operator has been majorly overhauled as his machine gun turret is being replaced by an Incendiary Grenade Launcher.
This is great news for the large majority of fans who despised the operator and his ability to stick to one place. The new grenade launcher will give the operator a lot of freedom in moving around and attacking with his fire grenades. Ubisoft also added that you can also remove Tachanka’s helmet and see his face as part of the new cosmetic items that you will be getting.
According to the art director of the game Alex Karpazis, the Tachanka grenade launcher will allow the operator to be more effective and versatile. However, you can still have access to the machine gun, but move around with the weapon instead of mounting it in one place.
The design team thought it worked super well with the legend of his weapon. And it ties in well with his kit. He can roam, and he can make holes to shoot his incendiary grenades through.
Ubisoft recently revealed the changes at the Six Invitational Event that came with a lot of details about the future of the game. Besides talking about the new season and the start of Year 5, we also got to head about some changes being made for Tachanka. In an interview with Dexerto, the game director Leroy Athanassoff talked about the rework.
Tachanka was probably the [most difficult operator to choose for a rework] Tachanka is beloved by our community, so we knew we had to do something that was true to the character. We literally went through the same process as making a new operator, so it’s almost nine months of working behind the scenes to make sure his gameplay is interesting and fits in the meta.
This is a welcome change brought into the game, which was also one of the most requested for a very long time. Tachanka along with his machine gun turret made him an easy target in matches. It is good to see that Tachanka is not only a meme, but can be more practical in the gameplay.
