Indie developer Winterborn has fully revealed their upcoming title Externus: Path of the Solari ahead of its Pre-Alpha Demo release. Externus: Path of the Solari is a character-driven tactical RPG that has been adapted from an original tabletop game. The game takes its inspiration from the classic tactical RPGs along with modern game development. Combining them together, Winterborn has crafted their very own story to deliver characters that matter.
In Externus: Path of the Solari, the developer wants you to get to know the characters in your party along with strategic combat in full 3D battlefields. The game encourages party interactions with different campfire scenes and storybook sequences that pay homage to the original tabletop game which is the inspiration behind Externus: Path of the Solari. The game is being built on a custom BroadSword Engine which has been built on the MonoGame Framework.
In Externus: Path of the Solari, you follow the story of Osmund Steele and his sons Alrik and Amante as they travel through the continents of Alcretia and Katrona. Osmund is part of an order known as the Soldat Solari and he wants to pass the tradition down to his sons. Soldat Solari are tasked with keeping balance and order throughout the world of Externus. On their path, they come across a group of zealots called The Monotheists led by Gabriel and thus the story takes shape based on your decisions and choices.

Externus: Path of the Solari is slated for release on PC and Xbox One with more platforms to follow. A Kickstarter for the title is starting next week which will seek additional funds for art support of the project. Along with the Kickstarter, a Pre-Alpha Demo of the game will also be released. Winterborn is a brand new indie developer formed by former Infinity Ward developers and this is their first project.
