Alterego Games and StickyLock Studios have announced a brand new psychological horror adventure game Sanity of Morris due to arrive in Q4 2020. We have previously seen the works of Alterego Games as they are the developer behind the cute little game called Woven which was all about the adventure of a fluffy elephant in a stitched world. With their recent announcement, the studio is taking a big diversion from their previous title as they dig in the genre of psychological horror.
Sanity of Morris is a game that tells us the story of a young man who is trying to stay sane in the search of his father but is consumed by conspiracy theories about the government and alien signals. The game is set in remote Greenlake where you come to visit your father but upon reaching his home, you find nothing as you expected it to be. Forces are at work and they don’t want you there and they are armed as well making things difficult for you as you look for your disappeared father.
You step in the shoes of Jonathan Ross with nothing more than a notebook and a flashlight. You will then set out to discern truth from fiction. As you play the game, your light reveals the clues that you need in order to find your father. However, this light will also alert anyone who is trying to hunt you down. On the other hand, if you stay in the dark for too long, you will begin to lose your sanity. Check out the announcement trailer for Sanity of Morris below:
Creative Director, Dominic de Graaf said:
We wanted to create something new and exciting, but also keep doing what we’re good at; storytelling. So for Sanity of Morris we took from Woven the adventure genre, having collectibles and working with a strong narrative. But then we added a whole layer of psychological horror in the music, in the visuals, and it’s really unnerving! In this game, you will start to question John’s reality. It makes for an engaging experience, like an interactive movie, perfect for escaping daily life. And we can all use that right about now.
Key features of Sanity of Morris include:
- Use your flashlight to reveal and interact with clues.
- Crouch and sneak your way past enemies undetected.
- Collect audio tapes, secret files, and hidden pictures for your journal and create a timeline of events.
- Balance seeking out new information against avoiding stress, or you might lose your sanity.
- Discover the truth about your father and his alien conspiracies. Has he gone crazy…. Or have you?
Sanity of Morris does not really promote stealth as its main point because you will need to expose yourself to enemies and to the light as you search for clues. Stealth is not your strongest suit in Sanity of Morris. The game also features some detective adventure gameplay in the mix as well. You can head over to the Steam page of Sanity of Morris to add the game to your Wishlist or download and try the Alpha demo of the game. The full version of the game will release in Q4 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
