In Death: Unchained is a Roguelite Exclusively for Oculus Quest

In Death: Unchained Update

Superbright is a new developer formed by former Dying Light, Dead Island, and Cyberpunk 2077 developers and they have just revealed their brand-new project In Death: Unchained. In Death: Unchained is a VR game that is slated for a release in July 2020 exclusively on Oculus Quest. The game was initially called In Death and was created by Solfar Studios however Superbright is now developing the IP further.

In Death: Unchained is a classic rogue-lite experience and combines the highly responsive and immersive world of VR with the formula. The game will feature procedurally generated maps ensuring that every run is a unique run. Each time, the enemy spawn locations and loot locations will also shuffle offering a brand-new experience every time you jump in the game. Along with this, modifiers from your previous run will also alter the gameplay in multiple ways.

You will require high maneuverability and smarty thinking to gain the upper hand on your enemies. Precise long-range longbow attacks are key to success and you will need quick reflexes to dodge the incoming attacks as well. You can also block incoming attacks with your shield. Weapon upgrades will play a vital role in your success in the game. You can pick up special arrows from fallen enemies to use them as well.

Since, In Death: Unchained is a rogue-lite, it means that death will be permanent for your character. However, you do not lose everything as special abilities and modifiers carry over to your next run in the game. The game also follows an achievement system to mark its progression. As you unlock more and more achievements, the game will scale the difficulty level of the game to ensure that you get a good challenge on every level.
