NVIDIA has released GeForce hotfix drivers update versioned 451.85, which addressed issues in multiple games including Death Stranding and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The hotfix update also adds support for the new Odyssey G7 monitor from Samsung. The hotfix driver can be downloaded from here.
This hotfix follows up on NVIDIA’s Game Ready Driver 451.67 which was released earlier in July. That driver release brought ‘Game Ready’ optimizations for Death Stranding, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and F1 2020. In that version, there were several small issues in various games that caused NVIDIA to push out this update.
The update fixes texture corruption issues faced in Death Stranding, which resulted in unloaded, incomplete, and distorted textures. This issue was most common on the GTX 16 and RTX 20 series GPUs. With the hotfix update, this issue has been resolved and so far, no issues have been reported by players.
The GeForce 451.85 Hotfix drivers also address the issue in Shadow of the Tomb Raider which caused the game to crash on launch when Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling was enabled. Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling is a feature Microsoft introduced with the May 2020 update for Windows 10. In short, it passes memory management control from the CPU to the GPU to improve performance while gaming. But apparently, it can cause issues too.
The new drivers also address the issues in Forza Motorsports 7. It fixes the issue in which the game starts to stutter after racing a few laps. The hotfix drivers have also added support for the Samsung Odyssey G7 gaming monitor. The monitor is Gsync compatible. The update also addresses some small stability issues which include NVIDIA Control Panel not displaying the native resolution of some HDTVs with invalid timings. Some games may exhibit random freezes that last for a few seconds during gameplay. Some displays may show a green tint when Windows Night Light is active.
