ASUS ROG HDMI 2.1

Asus has revealed a game-changing monitor for both PC and Console with full HDMI 2.1 certification and 4K 120Hz display. This monitor will be the first to support the HDMI 2.1 connectivity. HDMI 2.1 is the first HDMI standard to support 4K resolutions and high refresh rates without any limitations, making 4K 120Hz gaming a walk in the park while also bringing new features to the standard like VRR (Variable Refresh Rates) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode).

In a press release, Asus revealed the currently unnamed monitor. It said:

The new ROG monitor is compatible with next-generation consoles, with HDMI 2.1 giving it a full bandwidth of up to 48 Gbps to support 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) visuals at variable refresh rates of up to 120 Hz. Auto Low Latency also enables the game console to control the processing mode of the display, prioritizing low latency or processing quality depending on the content. Allion Labs has subjected the monitor to stringent Fixed Rate Link (FRL) tests, including FRL Electrical, FRL Pixel Decoding and FRL Protocol tests, to ensure full compatibility with upcoming HDMI 2.1 devices.

Auto Low Latency Mode will allow the console to control the processing mode of the display and choose between prioritizing low latency or processing quality depending on the content. Asus’s ROG division is the first company to partner with Allion Labs to create World’s first HDMI 2.1 monitors. Both companies have worked closely together, making ROG ready for the release of next-generation PC hardware and both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles.

ROG has also confirmed that they plan to release 3 monitors with different screen size options. They will include 27-inch, 32-inch, and 43-inch screen options. All of them will support HDMI 2.1 and will be 4K/120Hz ready. Asus ROG plans to release these monitors at the end of this year, but that may change depending on the situation of the ongoing pandemic.
