Insomniac Games recently shared additional details about the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man Remaster and to many fans surprise, the developers revealed a brand-new face for Spider-Man. This means that Spider-Man aka Peter Parker will have a new face in the PS5 version of the PS4’s hit Marvel’s Spider-Man. This caused a massive out roar among the community and fans of the video game and now the Creative Director at Insomniac Games, Bryan Intihar has released an official statement.

In case you cannot view the above tweet, here are his official words:
Today’s news about the new Peter Parker face model has surprised some of you, and we at Insomniac totally understand your reaction. Heck, it even took me a while to get used to Peter’s new look. But as we discussed the franchise’s future and moving to the PS5, it quickly became apparent that delivering even more believable-looking characters made finding a better facial match for actor Yuri Lowenthal – who we all love as Peter – a necessity.
We care as much about this character as much as your attachment to him, so please know that we didn’t make this decision/change lightly. As we did throughout the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man, we’ll continue to read your comments, listen and always be looking for ways to improve every facet of the game. At the same time, I hope you can trust us that this decision is what we feel is best for the future of the franchise and our upcoming goals for this beloved Marvel character.
While it makes perfectly good sense that PS5 features more power so the developer wanted to have a face that was more detailed than the PS4 version of the game, it is still a big surprise because it is not often that we get to see the faces of famous video game characters changed because of a new generation. Kratos is a major example as we have seen his old PS2 days as well as the latest PS4 version where he is extremely highly-detailed but still looks like the original Kratos from the one we loved playing in PS2 versions of the game.
Marvel’s Spider-Man remaster will release on November 12, 2020, on PS5 and will be included in the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
