A benchmark for the upcoming Intel Rocket Lake-S Desktop CPU have leaked online which shows an 8 Core, 16 thread CPU having a boost clock of 5.0 GHz, and the benchmarks show the CPU’s performance on par with AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X CPU which is AMD’s latest offering based on the Zen 3 architecture.
The benchmarks were leaked out by TUM_APISAK, and the Rocket Lake CPU was seen running on an upcoming HP OMEN desktop PC which shows that the OEMs and partners already have access to Rocket Lake CPUs, which is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2021.
The Intel Rocket Lake CPU was tested on an HP OMEN 30L Desktop GT13-0xxx which is using the HP 886C motherboard. This is an HP exclusive motherboard featuring the LGA 1200 socket which will support Intel’s upcoming 11th Generation Core processors as well.
Intel has already confirmed that the Rocket Lake CPUs will max out at 8 cores so it can be assumed that the leaked CPU is the flagship i9-11900K. The chip features 8 cores, 16 threads, 16.0 MB of L3 cache, and 4 MB of L2 cache. The benchmarks show the CPU having a base clock of 3.41 GHz and a boost clock of almost 5 GHz.
The Geekbench 5 benchmark shows that the boost clock was functioning fully normal as all cores were running at around 5.0 GHz clocks.

In the leaked benchmark, the Rocket Lake-S desktop CPU scores 1645 points in the single-core test and 9783 points in the multi-core test. Comparing that to AMD’s fastest 8 core chip, the Ryzen 7 5800X, which scored 1661 in single-core and 10367 in multi-core. These numbers are very close and with the Rocket Lake CPU speeds not finalized, we may expect even more performance once they are officially launched.
