Developer Atlus has confirmed that the studio is planning to develop Persona 6 and for surpassing the success of Persona 5, the developer is hiring new members for its development team. Atlus has yet to officially announce or reveal Persona 6 however the recruitment page has confirmed that Atlus is hiring to expand its team for Persona 6.
This was spotted on the job recruitment page of the Japanese wing of Atlus where the developer interviewed different members of its studio about the future of the studio. During the interview, the developer has clearly stated that the studio is looking forward to the development of Persona 6 however they will only start working on the title once they are sure that the studio can make Persona 6 better than Persona 5.
Persona 5 has set a really high standard for the franchise because it sold massively all around the world and Atlus wants to make sure that fans are not disappointed by Persona 6 because everyone will be directly comparing Persona 6 with Persona 5. For this very reason, the studio wants to expand its team of developers so that additional people can work on the title to make it even better than the previous one.
All of this was confirmed by Atlus director Naoto Hiraoka who said:
Unfortunately, the hurdles to overcome [in game development] increase every year.
Thanks to the large amount of support we received for “Persona 5,” we have gotten a sense of accomplishment. But we can’t stop there. When we created “Persona 4,” there was pressure that it had to exceed “Persona 3.” Now, we will have to create a “6” which exceeds “5.” However, exceeding “5” will be difficult with the current staff. I would like to surpass this tall hurdle with everyone who joins us in this recruitment. The workplace is perfect for those who want a creative challenge when it comes to bringing games to the world.
We currently have to wait for Atlus to officially announce Persona 6 at their own pace because Atlus clearly does not want to rush the development of the title and wants to surpass Persona 5 in every way possible.
