This guide will show you how to beat Crossbones in Marvel’s Avengers War for Wakanda, one of the main bosses in the DLC’s story campaign. The fight itself is pretty straightforward but requires you to disable the turret behind Crossbones.
As the city of Birnin Zana is under attack by the forces of Klaw, you will first encounter Crossbones as you try to stop the attack, and disable the large turret engaged in the onslaught. This guide will show you how to fight Crossbones and how to disable the turret.
How to Beat Crossbones in Marvel’s Avengers War for Wakanda
Crossbones is a pretty well-guarded boss who comes with plenty of shields. Even when the boss is staggered, it always has a shield protecting him against you while it tries to regain itself back.
Having said that, the staggering mechanic is actually made to work in your favor because you are not only here to beat Crossbones, but importantly, to disable the turret behind him.
Crossbones comes equipped with a large minigun and has attacks that have an area of effect. This will become apparent when you notice the giant red circle on the ground, indicating where the damaging effect will be. This gives you time to react and dodge out from the attack while you still have the chance.
Your strategy in the fight is to focus on getting close to Crossbones for a series of quick hits, and then dodge away when you see the red circles on the ground. The objective here is to fill up the stagger meter of Crossbones, which will incapacitate him for a short period.
As Crossbones staggers, the boss will produce a shield around him to prevent you from hitting more. At this stage, you should go to the turret and destroy the 2 power cores that the turret functions on. This will take a couple of attempts as Crossbones will regain composure and resume the battle again. Once both the power cores are destroyed, the turret will be disabled.
The reason why you only choose this moment to attack the power cores is that they are protected with a shield. The shield only disables when Crossbones uses his own shield to protect himself.
Unfortunately, though, Crossbones will escape in the end which is how the story is designed to be at this stage in the game.
