Dice’s head of design who worked on the recently released Battlefield 2042 has announced to be leaving the company. This comes just in just a couple of weeks after the game’s rocky launch earlier this month.
However, the head of design, Fawzi Mesmar has stated that he had been planning his departure from the studio even before the game was shipped.
The report comes from VGC, where we learned that Mesmar sent an e-mail to the staff over at Dice announcing his departure.
It was an absolute pleasure to serve on the best design teams in the galaxy. The incredible design work that you do continues to inspire me every day. Thank you for putting some faith in me, I hope I didn’t disappoint.
I have been made an offer I couldn’t refuse at another company that has been kind enough to wait for me until we have shipped [Battlefield 2042]. It was super important to me to be here with the team as we achieve this historical milestone.
While Oskar [Gabrielson, studio GM] and myself have been discussing my succession plans for some time – and it will be announced in due course – we opted to delay this communication till after launch to keep the focus – rightfully so – on the game we’ve been putting a monumental amount of effort on.
The report also mentions that Mesmar’s last day at Dice will be tomorrow on November 26, where he will now move on to the next position which is based in Stockholm.
So what really happened with Battlefield 2042 and why was the community not happy after the launch? Many players complained about the game running into frustrating issues like problems with the vehicles and maps being empty.
Dice has already announced that two major game updates are coming very soon and that the team will be communicating with the community about the changes being made, along with the future content planned for the game.
