Mimimi Games and Daedalic Entertainment have announced that the standalone expansion Aiko’s Choice for Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is releasing next month on December 6. The expansion is releasing on the 5th anniversary of the release of the base game, and it will allow players to revisit the ancient capital of Japan, Edo.

The expansion follows the journey of kunoichi adept Aiko and her deadly assassin friends who are hunting down ghosts of her past. The developer has shared a new trailer for Aiko’s Choice as well which we have linked below. However, if you still have to play the base game, it is worth mentioning here that the trailer contains some spoilers for the main story of the game so proceed only if you are fine with that. Key features of the expansion include:

  • Return to the beautiful world of Shadow Tactics set in Japan in the early Edo period.
  • Rejoin your favorite characters for another adventure set within the story of the main game Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun.
  • Experience a previously untold tale centered around the kunoichi adept Aiko, who has to face a vicious enemy connected to her past.
  • Explore three full-fledged main missions, located in brand-new environments, and three shorter interlude missions.

Shadow Tactics Aiko's Choice

The expansion includes nearly all of the features of the base game as well including:

  • Play a team of completely different characters with their own unique skill sets.
  • Synchronize your team’s actions to strike down your enemies at once with the “Shadow Mode” feature.
  • Choose between non-lethal or deadly stealth attacks.
  • Find dozens of ways to take out or sneak past your opponents the way you want.
  • Choose from three difficulty levels to match your skill.

To play Aiko’s Choice, you do not require the base game however for understanding the premise of the DLC, you have to play the full game first as well. You can check out the game on Steam and its DLC as well. A free demo is available on Steam as well.
