A flying Mount in Horizon Forbidden West is one such feature almost everyone will be looking to get in the game. The Sunwing is a newly introduced machine in the series that allows Aloy to Override and use it to fly all around the map.
The Sunwing is unlocked in one of the main story missions of the game and is a machine that does not require you to complete a Cauldron to get the Override unlock.
How to Get Sunwing Flying Mount in Horizon Forbidden West
The Sunwing is obtained automatically as it is part of a main story mission that lets you get the Override for the machine. The mission is called The Wings of The Ten which is obtained when you are in Tilda’s Mansion, after Varl’s death.
As you prepare for the battle, you will need to talk to Zo before progressing in the mission. Zo can be found outside the base on the eastern side, giving you the Sunwing Override. After this small conversation, head to the Fabrication Terminal where you can then craft the Override for yourself. This will allow you to Override a Sunwing that you find in the wild.
However, since overriding the Sunwing is part of the mission, all you have to do is follow the objective that takes you to the hills above the base where you will find a Sunwing to sneak up to and override. Once done, you have your own flying mount that you can first use to complete the rest of the mission, but also summon it anytime you want to fly about or use it to go to a certain location.
