Elden Ring Mohg Lord of Blood Boss Guide
Before we look at how to take on the boss and defeat it, you need to prepare yourself with items that will aid you in the battle when facing this tough boss.
Items Needed for Boss Fight
Mohg is a tough demigod to beat, especially considering that it can heal itself in the second phase and produce even deadlier attacks. To guarantee success in the battle, you need two important items that will significantly help you in the battle. These items are the Mohg’s Shackles and the Purifying Crystal Tear.
The Purifying Crystal Tear is obtained when you defeat Eleonora the Violet Bloody Finger in Yura’s questline. Eleonora can be found in the Second Church of Marika located in the Altus Plateau. Defeating this boss will give you the Purifying Crystal Tear which you then need to combine with the Wondrous Physick Flask.
The second important item is the Mohg’s Shackle, you need to go to the Avenue Balcony in Leyndell capital city. If you don’t have access to this area, make sure you go to the Roundtable Hold and talk to the NPC in red, who will then proceed in giving you the Sewer Gaol Key. Head to the Subterranean Shunning Grounds which is accessible through a well and make your way to the bottom-most area of the Shunning Grounds.
This area contains the giant Crawfish enemy that needs to be beaten for it to drop Mohg’s Shackle.
Mohg Boss Fight
Now that you are prepared with the items, you can head to Mohgwyn Palace to fight Mohg. In the first phase of the battle, Mohg will produce a few attacks that include the medium-range trident weapon stab and the fire claw attack that explodes in front of him. These attacks are done in a combo, which can be dodged in towards the boss for better positioning, or backed off as Mohg prepares for its trident weapons stab.
In between the two main attacks, Mohg will also throw blood pools in the area that erupt in flames. Getting caught in these fire pools will not only damage you but also increase your bleed. The last attack in the first phase is where Mohg will cast spells that create Nihil Blood rings around your character. In the first phase, you can use Mohg’s Shackle to stagger the boss for a good few seconds, allowing you to counter with several hits until he gathers himself and resumes the fight again.
It is only when you have 3 Nihil Rings around your character at the start of the second phase is going to deal a ton of damage to you, while the boss himself heals. This is where you will need to consume the Purifying Crystal Tears that you combined with the Wondrous Physick Flask, removing the rings.
The second phase of the fight is where Mohg will bring out his relentless attacks, where the blood rain will be the most difficult to manage. This is because there will be several fire pools close to the boss in between the melee hit and melee charge attacks.
