Ubisoft has announced the release date of its upcoming free-to-play PvP title Roller Champions. Roller Champions will release on May 25, 2022, with its kickoff season. The free-to-play game is slated for release on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 (backward compatibility on current-gen consoles), and Windows PC through Ubisoft Store. The game will feature cross-play across all of these platforms. A Nintendo Switch release is also planned along with Google Stadia and Amazon Luna however they are slated for later.
Roller Champions allows players to compete in two teams of three players to become the first team to score five points by throwing the ball into the goal. However, there is more to it as the more laps you make around the elliptical arena, the more points you get each time you score the ball. This is only possible provided that your team maintains the ball possession during this. You will get to speed along the arena walls, use several tackling maneuvers efficiently and work as a team member in order to win games.
As you win matches, you will climb the leaderboards and ultimately you will unlock the doors of increasingly renowned stadiums and leagues. This leads to the Elite Champions’ League where only the toughest of the players can compete with each other. As you progress in the game, you will have the opportunity to gain fans, discover new maps, compete in time-limited game modes and fully customize your Champion as they see fit. There are many unlockable items in the game that you can unlock for your Champion in the game.
Apart from the normal unlockable items, there are many exclusive cosmetic items and rewards that you can unlock with the Roller Pass each season. The game supports cross-play across all consoles, and it can be played with friends or players from around the world who have the same skill set as yourself. Apart from cross-play, Roller Champions also supports cross-progression so you can use the same Ubisoft account on different platforms to use your unlocked items and progression. Last month, Ubisoft held a Closed Alpha for the title which gave participating players a look into the game.
