As you can see from the trailer above, the game really features a beautiful art style and a unique gameplay design as well as blending together rhythm-based inputs in combat scenarios. It is inspired by Norse mythology and all visuals of the game are hand-drawn. You will experience the game through a narrative story and the rhythm-based combat also combines RPG mechanics into the mix as well. All of this really makes it a unique game to play. Some of the other elements of gameplay also include exploration and a dedicated soundtrack to deliver one special journey.
As you begin your journey, you will also meet various characters and explore a haunting Midgard while making your very own decisions to forge your own path. The story progresses based on your decisions and ultimately, you will shape the story and lead to an appropriate ending. The gameplay is pretty similar to what you normally see in titles such as Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution however in ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree, you will not be pressing buttons to reach a high score but instead, you will be fighting various enemies. Each fight in the game has its own unique soundtrack developed by Australian electronic artist Luminist.
If rhythm-matching is not your thing, ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree gives you to option to completely eliminate combat and focus on just the story of the game as well which is really amazing. If you want to get a taste of the game right now, you can head over to Steam and download a free demo of the game to try it out. ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree will release on Steam, GOG, Nintendo eShop, and PlayStation Store as a digital download only.
