Caits are enemies that you will run into as a rare encounter, and defeating them gives you various rewards that include EXP, JP, and a lot of Leaves. In addition, Caits can be captured and their skills can be used on your party members to boost their stats, or to debuff enemies. However, Caits are pretty evasive and will run away whenever they sense any danger. This Octopath Traveler 2 Caits Guide will show you how to find more Caits and show you all the ways you can successfully catch and defeat them.
Caits Guide – Octopath Traveler 2
As we mentioned earlier, defeating Caits gives you many useful rewards like experience points, JP, and money. And since the enemies are pretty rare to find and defeat, the amount of these rewards is quite high.
Normal Cait Rewards:
- 1,000 EXP
- 150 JP
- 3,000 Leaves
Chubby Cait Rewards:
- 2,000 EXP
- 1,000 JP
- 50,000 Leaves
How to Find More Caits
Caits are pretty rare to find and any encounter with them in Solistia is going to be random and sudden. Players are likely going to run into one when they are least expecting one to show up and are highly likely to be unsuccessful in catching one for themselves. Having said that, the game has a few ways you can increase the chances of running into a Cait encounter.
One of the first things you need to do is to get an accessory called Cait Powder. This item can be equipped for your party, increasing the chances of finding a Cait. To get this accessory, you will need to go to Clockbank and complete the “My Beloved Catherine” side story.
The second way you can increase the chances of finding Caits is by unlocking and using a skill called More Rare Monsters. This is a Hunter Job skill that raises the chances of running into rare monster encounters.
The last method that lets you find Caits is by transforming enemies into them. This can be achieved by using the Bewildering Grace skill, which is Agnea’s Dancer skill that gives you a slight chance of transforming enemies into a Cait. However, this method is not reliable as this skill has a random chance of transforming normal enemies to a Cait, and only when the BP is at the maximum level.
How to Defeat Caits
Caits are very evasive and will flee whenever they can sense you. This is what makes the encounter difficult as running into a Cait is just one part of the challenge, while the other is to successfully catch and defeat one.
But the game has ways you can increase your chances of beating a Cait. The first method is to have Hikari in your party with his Merciless Blade skill equipped. This skill deals 3,000 fixed damage to any enemy. This skill can be obtained when you beat an NPC called Young Man in Tropu’hopu.
Another way that makes Cait encounters easy is by using Soulstones. These special items deal damage using magic, meaning you can hit enemies without missing. The damage dealt with using Soulstones is also very high, which means that Caits will stand no chance against them.
If you don’t have these items, you can take matters into your hands during combat. The best way to deal damage to a Cait is by breaking their shields and then unleashing your most powerful attack on them. A Cait’s shield is broken when it is stunned, making it vulnerable for a turn. This gives you the best chance to land a powerful attack on them that maximizes damage using enhanced attacks, skills, and spells.
