Developer Vertical Reach and publisher Armor Games Studios have announced to launch of its PS1-style mystery horror game The Tartarus Key on PC and consoles this month on May 31, 2023.
The game is inspired by the classics of the horror genre and will release on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC. Watch the game’s thrilling new trailer below:
The Tartarus Key is a first-person narrative thriller that will have players seeking to escape from a mysterious mansion that is filled with dark secrets, terrible traps, perilous puzzles, and many twists and turns. You play as Alex, who has suddenly woken up in the dark and deadly mansion, and the last thing she remembers was being alone in her apartment.
In the mansion that she finds herself stuck in, she hears a stranger’s voice crackling through a walkie-talkie, while cameras follow her every move. When Alex finds out that she might now be alone in the nightmare that she is caught in, she sets off to discover what lurks in the shadows.
The Tartarus Key game features:
- Escape a deadly mansion filled with dangerous traps, and rescue Alex’s fellow captives… or fail, and leave them to a grisly fate.
- Uncover three different endings, and dig to the heart of the mansion and the strange secrets it and your captors hold.
- Solve puzzles and challenges reminiscent of escape-the-room games in a variety of unsettling and bizarre scenarios.
- A tense, atmospheric adventure that relies on puzzles and plot instead of combat or chase sequences.
While the game will launch late this month on PC and consoles on May 31, you can still try it out thanks to the free demo that is available on PC via Steam.
