In this Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Ship Guide, we will detail everything about the ship that you own in the game. Your ship in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey plays an important role for you to travel from your home island of Kephallonia to other various islands.
Our guide will focus on every aspect of the ship, from types of enemy ships to combat options that can be used against enemy ships. We will then guide every update you can apply on your ship from arsenal to defense upgrades, and resources needed to upgrade your ship.
Ship Basics
Your ship, Adrestia, is the ship you receive in the beginning of the game after defeating Cyclops and when you decide to leave Kephallonia. Your ship is a great way to travel around throughout the whole map. You can go to the upper deck and command your ship to go anywhere. Movement of the ship depends on rowing or opening up of the sails.
Rowing allows slow speed movement of the ship, helpful for explorations. Meanwhile, for a fast travel speed you can also open up the sails which are great for high speed travel around the map.
Ships can be docked in any port automatically, which can allow easy transition to the mainland. In case you want to summon your ship to a dock, you can easily call for it. There are also many missions available on board the ship, which rewards you money, experience and resources once completed
Types of Ships and Ship Combat
There are many other ships in the waters wherever you decide to travel or explore, and many of the ships are enemy ships that can attack you and destroy your ship. There are three kinds of ships you will find in the open water, Pirate Ships, Mercenary Ships and Merchant Ships.
Pirate Ships always attack you whenever you are in sight, Merchant Ships are not combat ships but attacking them increases bounty on your head which will prompt Mercenary Ships to hunt and kill you. While Mercenary ships do not attack you until there is a mission that involves them or if they are hunting you.
In combat, there are 3 types of attacks you can choose to inflict damage on an enemy ship. Ramming or attacking with Archers or Javelin throwers. Each of these tactics reduces the health f the enemy ship. Once you have defeated the enemy, you can choose to sink the ship which in turn rewards you with a lot of valuable resources that can be applied on your own ship.
In addition, you can also choose to board the destroyed ship to access any treasure before you decide to sink the vessel.
Ship Upgrades
There are many ship upgrades that you can apply which help in many factors. Firstly, you can increase the arsenal of the ship which will help in attacking enemy ships. The Arsenal that you have on your ship includes Arrows, Javelins, and Fire Braziers.
