Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 HD versions launched on Xbox 360 back in 2011. Those of you own the games already in disc or digital copy can now play it on Xbox One. If you do not own the copy, you can simply go to Microsoft Xbox games store and make the purchase for $19.99.
The HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 came bundles with Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. This means the HD version of part 2 will get you extra 500 stand-alone missions and Boss Survival. While the HD version of part 3 had third-person camera mode.
This recent addition of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 leaves two more MGS games which can not be played on Xbox One or Xbox 360. The original Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 4 are the only two games that are not released on Xbox platform. This is mainly due to the exclusive rights that are reserved with PlayStation consoles. You will still need PlayStation 3 to play MGS and MGS 4.
The backwards compatible features was launched November 12, 2015 for Xbox One console. Microsoft had to come with a plan to compete against its counter part console PlayStation 4. Since the launch of PS4, Xbox One was overshadowed with PlayStation 4. This was mainly due to lack of exclusives on Xbox One and few little features.
Microsoft in an attempt to gain traction in consumer electronics market, released backward compatible feature. It now covers almost more than 1000 games that support backwards compatible feature.
