Creepy Jar, the acclaimed Polish studio behind the survival hit Green Hell, has unveiled our first glimpse of combat and gameplay from its upcoming game StarRupture. Built using Unreal Engine 5, StarRupture is an ambitious blend of base-building, exploration, combat, and resource management, set on an alien planet ravaged by catastrophic cycles of destruction caused by its unstable star. The newly released teaser focuses on the game’s intense first-person combat, showcasing the dangers you will face while defending their bases from relentless assaults.
StarRupture is driven by three core gameplay pillars: base-building, exploration, and combat. The teaser, drawn from an early build of the game, emphasizes the pulse-pounding action that awaits you in this far-future setting. Humanity has ventured into the stars in search of precious resources, and the planet orbiting the star Ruptura offers an abundance of these—alongside a host of deadly threats.
Check out the first Gameplay Reveal trailer for StarRapture below:
In the teaser, a lone explorer battles waves of enemies attacking a custom-built base. As if the enemy onslaught wasn’t challenging enough, the planet’s star is on the verge of unleashing a devastating fire wave, adding an apocalyptic urgency to the fight. The player must juggle various survival elements—health, armor, thirst, toxicity, and hunger—while fending off the relentless assault.
The gameplay footage highlights the resourceful use of collected materials to create ammunition, which is then used to arm turrets as a defensive measure. The player’s base is under full-scale attack, with enemies targeting critical infrastructure like wind farms and storage facilities. In a split-second decision, the player shifts focus to defend smelters and crafting pods from a new wave of terrifying foes. Automated drones can be seen zipping around the base, delivering resources, but the sheer number of enemies threatens to overwhelm the defenses.
Creepy Jar details that the studio is using its five-year experience and developing StarRupture’s three gameplay pillars. The game is set in a beautiful sci-fi environment where you, taking on the role of a convict exiled from Earth, must survive extreme elemental cataclysms and hostile creatures while mining, building, and researching new technologies on this perilous planet. Whether played solo or in 4-player co-op mode, StarRupture challenges you to adapt, explore, and construct complex machinery to endure the cyclical destruction and thrive amidst the dangers.
While StarRupture may be defined as a base-building simulator, it promises to be much more. It will push you to stay resilient against constant threats, building and surviving in the face of relentless environmental and enemy challenges.
Creepy Jar has not announced any sort of release date or window for StarRapture at this point which means that the game is still in its early development stages. The trailer shows the game to be in a pretty solid state and we cannot wait to see more of it. A Steam page for the game is now live where you can add the game to your wishlist and await further details in the future.
