Swedish game development studio 10 Chambers, known for its work on PAYDAY: The Heist and PAYDAY 2, has given the first glimpse of their latest project, Den of Wolves. The game, an ambitious cooperative FPS heist shooter set on the hyper-capitalistic island of Midway City, was revealed through a live tech demo at Unity’s annual conference, Unite 2024, in Barcelona. The demo showcased the game’s progress and hinted at the challenges awaiting players.
Den of Wolves marks 10 Chambers’ second major release, following the success of their 2021 horror FPS GTFO. The studio, founded by industry veterans, has been steadily updating GTFO while simultaneously developing Den of Wolves, led by Creative Director Ulf Andersson. Returning to his heist roots, Andersson is crafting a game that blends cooperative gameplay with elements of industrial espionage, sabotage, and high-stakes theft in a dystopian near-future setting.

The live tech demo provided a sneak peek at a warehouse level featuring a massive vault guarded by heavily armed humans and robots, setting the stage for the kind of intense heist scenarios players can expect. “At 10 Chambers, we usually create many of our tools, but after Unity built us a scene in Unity 6 using Den of Wolves assets, we were convinced to upgrade the game to it,” explained Hjalmar Vikström. He highlighted that this upgrade not only improved the game’s visuals but also allowed the team to experiment more freely with gameplay mechanics—an essential factor for a game that aims to redefine the heist genre.
Den of Wolves was initially teased during The Game Awards 2023 with a cryptic reveal showing a scene of future technology being used for torture and interrogation, offering a glimpse into the darker narrative and complex world players will navigate. The game’s setting, Midway City, is a near-future island overrun by corporate warfare, where players take on the role of mercenaries hired to perform dangerous heists and sabotage missions for rival corporations.
Though the game has left its pre-production phase, the developers are candid about its current stage of development. “Revealing the look and feel of a game level at a developer conference isn’t the typical marketing approach, but as developers first, it felt natural,” said Robin Björkell, Communications Director at 10 Chambers. He noted that while the tech demo looked promising, there is still significant work ahead before the game is ready for players.
Den of Wolves is aiming for an Early Access release on PC via Steam and if you are interested in playing it, you can add it to your wishlist as well. Although no official release date has been announced, the studio aims to share more updates soon as development progresses. Meanwhile, 10 Chambers’ previous game, GTFO, remains available on Steam.
