Developer Weltenbauer.Software and publisher astragon Entertainment have done an amazing job so far in keeping the 2022 title Construction Simulator alive with regular DLC packs, expansions, and updates. Since its release, the developer has added different new brands to the game such as Liebherr and SANY, and expansions like the Spaceport Expansion or the Airfield Expansion. Each of these packs has added new content like massive jobs and new construction vehicles for you to purchase and add to your fleet. Now, the developers are back with yet another brand DLC and this time, the Swedish brand Dynapac has found its way into the game with its robust lineup of construction machines. This is our review of Construction Simulator – Dynapac Pack on PC via Steam in which we compact some roads and pave some tracks with a brand-new brand.
Unlike most construction brands that offer a diverse lineup of construction machines, Dynapac excels at road construction machines and hence only offers machines catering to this particular field. Dynapac is a Swedish brand that has had a rough journey through the years with multiple acquisitions the latest one being Fayat Group but despite all this, the manufacturer has continued to evolve its machines and currently offers some of the best machines catering to road construction around the world. Its addition to Construction Simulator brings six brand-new road construction machines to the game featuring the iconic red, grey, and white color scheme of the brand.
The entire lineup consists of six vehicles out of which you get 1 full-size soil compactor, 1 towed asphalt paver, 1 drivable asphalt paver, and 1 tiny asphalt paver along with a full-size asphalt paver and 1 smaller asphalt paver. All six machines cater to road construction so if you do not like road projects, this DLC pack is certainly not for you but if road construction is your favorite, you are definitely going to enjoy the new additions to your fleet. Naturally, the models for the full-size machines are not really unique and they look pretty much the same when compared to the versions already available in the game. For example, the Dynapac CA3500D Soil Compactor looks the same as the HAMM H11l Soil Compactor with minute changes.
Each vehicle features its own brand’s unique colors, but the model looks fairly similar. In addition to the visual looks, the vehicles handle exactly the same as well. This is the same when compared to other machines which already have similar variants available with a different brand name. In the mix, the F80W Asphalt Paver and the CC1400VI Asphalt Compactor are the only two vehicles that do not have much competition in the game and this is because of their size. Both of them are compact machines and because of this, they are only suitable for smaller jobs. They are more useful as supplementary vehicles rather than primary vehicles. For example, I used the CC1400VI in tight spots where the full-size compactor was unable to reach or was missing.
As far as the F80W Asphalt Paver is concerned, it is best for just having fun at work because your character stands up on it to drive and it is just fun to complete smaller tasks or tight areas with it. The rest of the vehicle lineup is pretty basic as they handle and perform just like their counterparts already available in the game. All Dynapac vehicles feature the brand’s iconic livery of red, white, and grey colors with white branding across them. It is surely one of the best brands in the game and once added to your fleet, the vehicles will stand out from the crowd.
At $9.99, the Dynapac DLC is only good for brand fans and players who love road construction projects and are looking to add new brands to their fleet. While it offers six new vehicles, half of the vehicles already have their alternatives in the game which perform the same task already. This makes it a little hard to recommend to players who are looking for a DLC that adds new vehicles across the board and not just one contract type. The vehicles are a decent addition because Dynapac is well-known for its road construction vehicles so fans should go for it.
Final Verdict:
While the previous brand packs brought a multitude of vehicles with them, the Dynapac Pack brings only road vehicles and despite adding more vehicles, they do not have proper jobs for them. Road projects are not common in the game which means that if you purchase the new pack, you will need to complete some contracts first before finally getting a road project. Even when you land a project, two of the machines are too small for these jobs and it means that you will be spending a lot of time using these compact machines to complete your tasks. It is a decent brand addition to the game, but the vehicles do not really add much value to your fleet. If you are a fan of this Swedish brand, you can add their road construction machines to your fleet but otherwise, you can easily skip this DLC.
Final Score: 7.5/10
