Sea of Thieves is to receive more content since its launch and is focusing on expanding more of this pirate adventure game. The announcement comes at the X018 event in Mexico City where the latest content The Arena will feature a competitive PvP mode coming out in early 2019, and is the fifth free content since the launch of the game.
At the moment, the details are very scarce and the trailer rather looks like just more of Sea of Thieves. However, executive producer Joe Neate says that it will start as a condensed, shorter session of the game, focused on treasure hunting, but that it will grow and develop like how the base game has been doing based on the feedback from the community. Take a look at the trailer below:
The Arena will come as a standalone mode, and it is a competitive game mode where players can test their skills against rival pirate crew in fast paced matches. Players team up to take out their enemies as they band together to see who is truly worth of being a Pirate Legends.
In addition, The Arena will also introduce a new trading company known as the Company of Dogs and a new tavern area. The Trading Company will come offering new goals, opportunities, and rewards for all players who become Pirate Legends.
