Indie studio Mad Fellows has announced the release date of Aaero2 on Xbox Series X|S. Aaero2 will be released on Xbox Series X|S on October 15, 2024. Originally expected in September, the launch was delayed ensuring the final product meets the studio’s high standards. Creative Director Paul Norris emphasized that the long development period made it essential to take the extra time to perfect the game.
To give you an early taste of the game, Aaero2 will feature a brand-new demo on Steam during the October edition of Steam Next Fest, starting October 14. This demo will allow you to experience the near-complete version of the game, providing valuable feedback to the developers. Norris expressed excitement about focusing on the PC version and gathering insights from the community before the official launch.

Upon launch, Aaero2 will feature both online and local multiplayer modes. Paul Norris highlighted the importance of incorporating both options from the outset. A lot of players, himself included, are often disappointed when co-op games are limited to local play only. However, introducing online multiplayer added complexities, including the need to account for latency between players. The certification process for online functionality also posed its own set of challenges. Nevertheless, Norris is eager to see you compete through the game’s leaderboards, a popular feature in the original Aaero.
The game’s partnership with Monstercat, a leading record label, has been another significant aspect of Aaero2’s development. Norris praised Monstercat for their extensive music catalog, fair practices, and deep understanding of the gaming and streaming industries. This collaboration has allowed the team to assemble an epic soundtrack that enhances the game’s rhythm-based action. Tracks include “In The Night” by MUZZ featuring Sullivan King, “Endgame” by Bossfight, and “Drop Bombs” by Stonebank, among others.
Aaero2 builds on the foundation of the critically acclaimed Aaero launched back in 2017, with a new combat system, upgraded visuals, and epic boss battles against enormous creatures. You will pilot a mysterious spacecraft, following ribbons of light that release energy in sync with the game’s music. The game also introduces co-op and PvP modes, both for local and online play, promising a dynamic multiplayer experience.
Aaero2 is now available for pre-order on the Xbox Store. If you want to try it out before its release, make sure to check out the free demo featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest on October 14, 2024, through its official Steam page. The PC Steam version of Aaero2 will be released a little later, in December 2024.
