THQ Nordic Incorporates New Studio Alkimia Interactive to Develop Gothic Remake

Alkimia Interactive

THQ Nordic has announced the incorporation of a new studio called Alkimia Interactive, based in Barcelona, Spain. The studio will develop Gothic Remake after the project was greenlit and a plan to set up a studio subsidiary.

Last summer in 2020, the studio had started its operations and began recruiting a team of passionate RPG developers. Ever since then, the studio has set up an office in Barcelona, while still growing and looking for more developers to join the studio.

Alkimia Interactive focuses and aims to build high-quality RPGs, with its first project being the full development of the Gothic Remake for PC and next-gen consoles. The development is currently well underway, while the first results that the team has been working on will be revealed in the next couple of months, according the studio.

Studio head at Alkimia Interactive, Reinhard Pollice had this to say,

We strive to build Alkimia Interactive as a top-notch RPG studio. Our ambition is to become one of the best addresses for PC/Console core game development in the South of Europe

The original Gothic game was released back in 2001 and is an action RPG set in a fantasy prison. The original was followed by many sequels and expansions over the years, but the series has been pretty quiet since the early 2010s. When THQ Nordic acquired the rights to the game, it created a playable teaser and released it on Steam back in 2019. Now that the game has got a new developer working on it, we might get to see something significant in a couple of months time.

Alkimia Interactive is also looking to hire more developers into the team to work on developing RPGs. If you are a passionate developer who loves to work on creating role-playing games, head over to Alkimia Interactive website and apply for a position.
