AMD Bringing Ryzen 7 5700G, Ryzen 5 5600G to the DIY Segment this August

AMD has finally announced that the Ryzen 7 5700G and Ryzen 5 5600G ‘Cezanne’ APUs will be releasing for the DIY segment in August. The announcement comes a month after the launch of these APUs in the OEM segment.

The AMD Ryzen 5000G Cezanne Desktop APU family features the brand-new Zen 3 cores which are already used in Ryzen desktop, Ryzen mobility, EPYC server CPU platforms. The family consists of three processors which include the Ryzen 7 5700G, the Ryzen 5 5600G, and the Ryzen 3 5300G. Only the top two are making their way to the DIY segment for now.

The Ryzen 7 5700G is the flagship APU of the Cezanne lineup. It is an 8 core, 16 thread processor and has a base clock of 3.8 GHz which boosts to 4.6 GHz. The CPU has a total of 16 MB L3 and 4 MB L2 cache with the TDP being set at 65W. The APU features Vega integrated GPU with 8 CUs which translates to 512 stream processors running at clock speeds around 2.0 GHz.

The 35W Ryzen 7 5700GE will feature the same specs but reduced core clocks of 3.2 GHz base and 4.6 GHz boost. The Ryzen 7 5700G APU will retail at $359 USD.

On the other hand, the Ryzen 5 5600G is a 6 core, 12 thread processor and has a base clock of 3.9 GHz which boosts to 4.4 GHz. The CPU has a total of 16 MB L3 and 3 MB L2 cache with the TDP being set at 65W. The APU features Vega 7 integrated GPU with 7 CUs which translates to 448 stream processors running at clock speeds around 1.9 GHz. The Ryzen 5 5600G APU has a retail price of $259 USD.

The AMD Ryzen 7 5700G is much faster than the Core i7-11700, offering 63% faster content creation, 28% faster productivity, 60% faster compute & 2.45x faster graphics performance. The Vega iGPU is also much faster than Intel’s Xe graphics, up to 2.45x more performance than the Xe graphics of Intel.

Both the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G and Ryzen 5 5600G APUs will be a great option for budget PC builders who are looking for a bang for the buck PC in the DIY segment.

AMD also confirmed the release of Zen 4 Ryzen CPUs in 2022 along with the reveal of the next-generation 3D stacking design for its chiplet architecture-based CPUs. AMD has also revealed its competition to the Nvidia DLSS, the FidelityFX Super Resolution technology.
