After the releases of X570 and B550 motherboards, looks like AMD is releasing the A520 as well. The A520 will be the entry-level motherboard which is scheduled to arrive on 18th August. It will target the budget PC builders who want the best performance from their Ryzen Chips for the least price possible.
Before the arrival of A520, PC builders had options to choose from the B550 and X570, both of which are quite expensive as compared to the A series of AMD motherboards. The arrival of A520 will be good news for budget builders.
The A520 lineup of motherboards will not feature the fast PCIe Gen 4 which is available in both the other tier motherboards. The A520 motherboard will also not support CPU overclocking. The A520 chipset will feature max I/O of 6 PCIe Gen3, 4 SATA, and 9 USB ports. But the good thing is that it supports Ryzen 3rd Gen out of the box and will also feature the upcoming Zen 3 APUs and CPUs.
ASUS version of A520 was spotted in a listing on Newegg. The ASUS Prime A520 motherboard has a PCI-Express x16 slot, a pair of PCIe x1 slots, a single M.2 socket, and two DDR4 DIMM slots that support up to 4,600 MHz RAM to feed current Socket AM4 CPUs.
I/O range on the back of the motherboard includes 4 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 D-Sub port, a Realtek Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, 3 channel audio jack & a PS/2 port. It comes in a mini ATX form factor.
ASRock’s version of A520 has also been revealed by Videocardz. It is rumored that ASRock is developing 5 different versions of the A520 chipset. Photos of Pro4 series of ASRock A520 have surfaced which includes two different motherboards, the A520M Pro4 and the A520M-ITX/ac.
The A520M Pro4 is a Micro-ATX board with four DIMM slots and dual PCIe x16 slots, which the mini ITX version has 2 DIMM slots and 1 PCIe x16 slot. The A520M Pro4 has four SATA III ports. I/O on the motherboard includes four USB 3.2 Gen 1, two USB 3.2 Gen 2, 2 USB 2.0, HDMI, D-Sub, VGA ports, Gigabit Ethernet LAB, and a 3-channel audio jack.
Prices are currently unknown for the ASRock boards but they will most probably be below 100$. The ASUS Prime A520 is listed for 75.99$ on Newegg. It is hoped that more vendors will start to release their own versions of the A520 motherboards soon.
