Innersloth has finally announced that the previously announced Airship map for its highly addictive game Among Us is arriving later this month. The new Airship map for Among Us was announced back at The Game Awards 2020, and is now arriving on March 31, 2021, for all players in a free update for the game.
Revealed last year, Airship is the fourth and the biggest map in the game so far and it will come with fresh, new tasks as well. The new update will also add ladders, an account system, and the option to pick a room to start the game in. Innersloth revealed all of this in a new blog post, where the developer has also detailed why the updates are taking long for the game. Innersloth is a relatively small game working on a live game so it is natural for updates and new content to get delayed.
The developer initially did not expect the title to become such a hit with players and because of this, the developer earlier announced that they are already working on Among Us 2. However, after the title blew up on Steam and Twitch, the developers had to cancel the development of Among Us 2 and dedicate the entire team to Among Us and making sure that everything continues to work great for the players.
Managing online titles is a tiresome job and since Innersloth is a small team, sometimes the entire team has to skip working on new content and dedicate themselves to the game’s maintenance which is one of the reasons behind why the new Airship map took so long to launch for Among Us. Among Us also features cross-platform gameplay so the developers have to work on the map so that it works flawlessly for every platform right at launch.
