Panache Digital Games and Private Divison have announced that their title Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is set to launch today on Steam for PC. The game will be available at 1 pm PT at a special Steam launch price for a limited time only.
The developers have also stated that to mark the release of the game on Steam, they will be participating in a AMA (Ask Me Anything) on the Reddit page r/pcgaming to answer all of your questions regarding the game from 10 am to 12 pm today.
Panache Team will also be streaming the game at 1:30 pm to give you a taste of what your adventure could be like. You can watch the stream on Twitch and Steam where Patrice Désilets, Cofounder and Creative Director, will be showing his off skills and the countless possibilities the game has to offer.
The Steam release benefits from several patches and updates since the original launch, including:
- improved tutorials and additional objectives to guide the player
- controller vibration support
- new visual feedback on timing-based gameplay like combat and miscellaneous actions
- new RPG nodes to automate some clan life tasks, such as mating and bonding
- additional character animations
- bug fixes and more!
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is not just about chasing green dots on a map. The game was designed to allow you to freely experiment and explore. We won’t tell you what to do or how to do it; in Ancestors, you are the co-author of your own story of evolution. Your survival as a lineage depends on the decisions you make as a player and the four core systems of the game (senses, intelligence, communication, and motricity) were built to support exploration so that you can develop your clan and species through generations.
In addition, the official soundtrack for the game will be releasing alongside the game. It will be offered on Steam and Epic Games Store for the first two weeks and will be available as of September 9th on other music platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, etc.

Yeah, after ten hours of this ‘game’ on steam, I can safely say it didn’t fix a damn thing. Désilets’ first, and hopefully last, indie game is one of the worst gaming experiences I’ve ever had the misfortune to spend time in, and I’d highly recommend any gamer considering a purchase of this garbage to at least wait until it gets thrown into a cheap humblebundle, though it is questionable if it would be worth it even then. Horrid gameplay, graphics that are 2012 era, and a supremely lack of anything remotely enjoyable hamper this experience.
