Analgesic Productions has announced that their 2D/3D adventure game Anodyne 2: Return to Dust is releasing on PC, Mac, and Linux in August 2019. Anodyne 2 follows the adventure from the first title Anodyne which was released back in 2013 and brings with it unique gameplay featuring both 3D and 2D sections in an amazing world of New Theland.
In Anodyne 2, you will get to experience the thrilling scale and cinematic storytelling of 3D games combined with the tight design and easy-to-pick-up satisfaction of 2D Zelda-like adventure games. It brings with it one of the most unique gameplay mechanics because the transition between the 2D and the 3D sections is very seamless and also both modes play differently, it does not feel that you’ve jumped into a different game.
The game is set in New Theland where Nano Dust has infected the islanders and as a result, has distorted their emotions and desires. You will jump in the shoes of Nova who is a Nano Cleaner as she explores the island and helps people infected with the Nano Dust. As soon as you jump in the game, the visuals will remind you of the classic PS1 and N64 era’s lo-fi visuals.
You will get to explore 3D cities, wastelands, valleys and many different areas where you will try to cure as many people as possible. Nova also comes with the ability to transform herself into a vehicle allowing great mobility and ease. One of the best aspects of the game is that it comes with its own unique story and you do not have to play the first game to understand it however if you have played the first game, you will find some connections between the two games.
