Ferox is a cute little creature in its calm state but turns into a ferocious large beast when you feed it some element. Players will be looking to find a Ferox, as they can be mounted and used for a few attacks like melee punches, or even throwing projectiles at targets. This Ark Fjordur Ferox Taming Guide will show you where you can find a Ferox and what you need to do to tame this creature.
Ark Fjordur Ferox Taming Guide
Before you head out to tame a Ferox, make sure you have plenty of Element as it is required for taming. This is because this cute little creature will act all adorable, wanting you to feed it some Element.
So now that you are ready, you need to go all the way west in the snowy region of the map, specifically at these coordinates: [Lat: 20.9, Lon: 8.1]. This takes you to the base of a large mountain, with the rock formation pointing up to the sky. The mountain is very easy to spot because of its unique shape, while the small cave entrance will be at the mentioned coordinates, facing northeast.
Once inside the cave, it is advised to first kill off any Direwolves and Dire Bears as they will only hinder your progress. The cave will also have a handful of cute Ferox running around and following you. You obviously would want the highest level Ferox to tame, which is why you should take out all the lower level Ferox, leaving you alone with your chosen Ferox.
The process that follows is pretty simple but requires you to take cover from the animal when it transforms itself into its larger, aggressive form. The process is also a little long, as every time you feed a Ferox some Element, it will only progress its taming bar with 5%, meaning you will have to repeat the process of giving it Element, and taking high ground for cover.
Now that you know the basics, let a Ferox come to you, and immediately give it some element when it allows you to. This becomes easy when you hotbar an Element, and it will highlight itself in the hotbar, indicating when you can give it to a Ferox. Once you have done this, retreat and take cover on the platforms above, while the Ferox is in its aggressive form. Over time, the Ferox will calm down, and return to its small form, allowing you to approach it and repeat the process all over again.
