Arma Reforger is a standalone installment, and it serves as a platform for players to enjoy the new capabilities of Enfusion as well as provide feedback on the ongoing development of Arma 4. Apart from this, Arma Reforger also hopes to empower the developer’s dedicated community of modders with an exciting new suite of integrated, in-house Enfusion tools. Arma Reforger draws on the success of Arma: Cold War Assault as it returns the players to the island of Everon in a familiar fictional 1980s setting.

The terrain itself is part of the fictitious Malden Islands archipelago and has been reimagined and faithfully recreated with added improvements, such as lakes, ponds, and flowing rivers. Each of these is a popular feature request made possible through the Enfusion engine. The terrain spans over an impressive 164km2 area and it contains 51km2 of landmass, filled with dense forests, low-rolling hills, mountains, patchwork fields, and idyllic towns which are inspired by the former state of Czechoslovakia.

At launch, Arma Reforger features two game modes for players to try out. These include Conflict and Game Master. Conflict is a team versus team deployment mode where players are compelled to work together in order to capture strategic positions from the enemy. By base-building and completing tasks, combatants can earn battlefield promotions and rise up through the ranks. There are two factions to choose from, American and Soviet and each of these come with its own authentic weaponry, vehicles, and equipment.

The second game mode, Game Master, is a real-time scenario editor. This is a dynamic sandbox where one or more curators take on the role of Game Master as they create responsive combat encounters for other players. Designed with both newcomers and long-standing Arma gamers in mind, this fast-paced mod-compatible mission-maker will ensure that every match is different every time. Apart from this, Arma Reforger is also launching an exclusive, in-game platform for sharing user content called Workshop. Players can upload their own mods here for other players who can download them and play them. This also supports console players so all mods uploaded to the Workshop will be available to both PC and console players.

At this point, Arma Reforger has no confirmed 1.0 release date however it will leave Early Access/Game Preview when the developers think that the game is complete. Bohemia Interactive is pledging continued support for Arma Reforger even if the teams shift their focus and resources to other titles including Arma 4. Additional details are available on the official Arma website which contains details on how you can get access to Arma Reforger as well. Previously, Bohemia has been very active on Arma 3 with its Vietnam DLC, Art of War contest, and much more.
