Assassins Creed Valhalla Viking Setting

After teasing it yesterday, Ubisoft has officially released the Cinematic World Premier trailer for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla today and it indeed features a Viking setting. The new trailer showcases the brutal era of Vikings. The game will release on all current-gen as well as next-gen titles including Xbox Series X and PS5. Along with these platforms, the game will release on PC exclusively via Uplay and Epic Games Store and will also release on Google Stadia.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla sets a brand new direction for the franchise as the game is based on the Vikings. You step in the shoes of Eivor, a fierce Viking raider who has been raised on tales of battle and glory. The game is being developed by the team behind Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins. The game offers a captivating Viking experience as players get to explore a dynamic and beautiful open world set against the brutal backdrop of England’s Dark Ages.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will come packed with brand new features such as raids, growing their settlement, building their power, and expanding their influence. Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ashraf Ismail said:

We can’t wait for players to experience the incredible Viking journey ahead of them. Being in Eivor’s boots as both a Viking raider and a clan leader, players will face the conflicts of establishing a new home while in the midst of a power struggle for control of England.

Similar to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, players will be able to play either as male or female Eivor and will have access to tons of customization tools and will be able to change their character’s hair, tattoos, war paint, and gear. The dynamic world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be affected by political alliances, combat decisions, and dialogue choices so players will need to choose wisely in order to protect their home and clan’s future.

Ubisoft officially details the plot of the game as:

Driven from Norway by endless wars and dwindling resources in ninth century AD, players will lead Eivor’s clan of Norsemen across the icy North Sea to the rich lands of England’s broken kingdoms. Players must carve out a new future for their clan, reliving the ruthless fighting style of Viking warriors with a revamped combat system that includes the ability to dual-wield weapons against a greater variety of enemies than ever before. To secure resources players can lead raids to select locations using their longship to earn much-needed riches and resources. As the Vikings begin to settle in their new home, they encounter resistance from the Saxons including King Alfred of Wessex, who denounces them as heathens and looks to be the sole ruler of a civilized England. Against all odds, Eivor must do what is necessary to keep Valhalla within reach.
