Developer Turtle Rock Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Games have announced that their co-cop zombie shooter Back 4 Blood has reached 10 million players since its launch last year. To celebrate this massive milestone, the developer has also announced the new Back 4 Blood Tunnels of Terror DLC for the game which is the title’s first major DLC expansion. Tunnels of Terror is slated for release on April 12, 2022.
Gamers who already own the Back 4 Blood: Ultimate Edition, Back 4 Blood: Deluxe Edition, or the Back 4 Blood Annual Pass are already set for the new expansion as it will be part of their purchase. The expansion will be available standalone as well. Tunnels of Terror will bring the new feature Ridden Hives PvE cooperative activity, new playable Cleaners and Ridden variants, exclusive character and weapon skins, and other new content. The complete rundown of incoming content is detailed in the infographic below:
Turtle Rock Studios President and General Manager, Steve Goldstein detailed:
To achieve such a milestone in the short time since the launch of Back 4 Blood is a historic event for our studio and this franchise. As we look ahead, we’re excited to keep the momentum going with our upcoming expansion, Tunnels of Terror, which will offer more cooperative content for fans to continue cleansing the world of the Ridden.
Ridden Hives is a new co-op activity where teams up top four players will be able to explore seven different dungeons full of labyrinth tunnels below the depths of Evansburgh. A new Ridden type Warped Ridden is infesting these dungeons and you will be able to claim exclusive loot and rewards only offered in Ridden Hives. You will need to outmaneuver and overcome the new enemies such as the landmine-setting Urchins, monstrous Shredders, and damage-dealing Rippers.
The new Warped Ridden are also playable in the PvP Swarm mode. Two new playable characters Sharice, an ax-wielding firefighter, and Heng, tough as nails, the no-nonsense restaurateur are also coming in the expansion. Players looking for fancy new skins will be treated to eight exclusive skins and seven new legendary weapons. 12 new weapon skins, new cards, and additional stuff are also coming to the game.
Players wanting an extra kick out of the title can look forward to the new No Hope difficulty which brings an extra level of challenge for elite players. If your team is not willing for the purchase, if you purchase the expansion, all players in your party will get access to the new content as long as you or another player in the party owns it. The game is still free of all sorts of microtransactions so you can get all new content without dishing out real cash.
