Barotrauma Among the Ancients Update Adds Character Progression and Overhauls Alien Ruins

Barotrauma Among the Ancients

Daedalic, FakeFish, and Undertow Games have announced the launch of Barotrauma Among the Ancients massive update that introduces character progression as characters become more diverse and talented, along with an overhaul of Alien Ruins.

The characters become more diverse from both the outside and the inside, while the alien ruins below the frozen sea are changed to make exploration even more disturbing for the player.

Check out the Barotrauma Among the Ancients update trailer below:

Barotrauma is a 2D co-op submarine simulator – in space, with survival horror elements. Steer your submarine, give orders, fight monsters, fix leaks, operate machinery, man the guns and craft items, and stay alert: danger in Barotrauma doesn’t announce itself!

The characters in the game are getting a visual overhaul with many facial features, hairstyles, and accessories. Skin tone is also a feature that can be changed thanks to the implementation of a skin shader system. Although the character animations and proportions have been changed to look more realistic, they still retain the trademark ragdoll appearance and movement for maximum viewing pleasure.

The inner values of the characters are also getting tweaked with the new introduction of the new talent system that gives each class-specific talents and buffs that can be unlocked with experience points. This makes classes more distinct and valuable and each player can shape their own character more freely.

As soon as you are ready with your character, you can go out on a trip into the redesigned alien ruins. These last remnants of civilization before the humans came along are visually overhauled and now have a more distinct creepy look.

[Alien] ruins feel more alien than ever before: The Fractural Guardian patrolling the ruins has a new look and behavior, using a harpoon and a steam cannon to get rid of trespassers. The new Swarm Feeder is looking for blood and the Gravity Sphere and Ruin Vent add new effects to the mix.
