Gearbox Software’s online multiplayer game Battleborn is officially going offline in 2021 as announced by 2K Games. The game servers will be shut down in January of 2021 and cannot be played after that.
The announcement was made by 2K Games in a tweet, along with an official notice that was posted on their website. The publisher also stated that over the course of the coming year, the game will lose one of its features, which is the ability for players to purchase the in-game virtual currency. This feature will be taken off in February, next year, which is not far away.
[3/3] We’re extremely proud of the work that went into the game, and want to extend our deep appreciation to all the fans for their support. We’ll continue to provide updates on the sunsetting of the title when appropriate.

Battleborn has been removed from digital storefronts, and we are now in the process of gradually sunsetting the game to focus our efforts and resources on other projects.
So, what does that mean? At the moment, you won’t see any effect if you own a copy of the game. But there are some things you should be aware of. After February 24, 2020, you will no longer be able to purchase premium virtual currency (“Platinum”) for use in the game. The game’s servers will remain active and the game will continue to be playable until January 2021. Once servers are deactivated, Battleborn will no longer be playable.
However, the statement also says that any currency that players would have can still be used to purchase items. This, of course, is going to stay until the game servers are shut down in 2021. Apart from the virtual currency not being available, the game will work normally until 2021.
Yes, you can still spend any virtual currency (both Platinum and the coins you earn through gameplay) you have in your account until the game’s servers shut down in 2021. You can still grind for it in the game, too, you just won’t be able to directly purchase it anymore.
