BIG Festival is Partnering Up with Humble Bundle to Help Indie Developers

BIG Festival 2024

Brazil Independent Games (BIG) Festival has announced a partnership with Humble Bundle to recognize up-and-coming talent in Latin America. BIG Festival is Latin America’s biggest indie gaming expo and now Humble Bundle is also joining forces with it to help indie developers make it to the limelight.

With this brand new partnership, the Humble BIG New Talent Award has been added to the BIG Festival awards line-up this year. This winner of this prize will win a grand prize of $15,000. At the point of this partnership, Big Festival’s director Gustavo Steinberg stated:

We are happy to announce this partnership because Humble Bundle and Brazil Games have much in common when it comes to indie gaming. We want promising indie developers to have a chance at worldwide exposure to encourage creativity and diversity in gaming on an international level.

After this partnership, all Latin American studios who had earlier submitted their games to the BIG Festival Awards are now automatically eligible for the Humble BIG New Talent Award as well. For this, however, they must agree to participate in the award and submit a new game proposal that runs on the Windows platform since the Humble Bundle only deals on Windows.

All games submitted for this Humble Bundle award will be assessed by the jury to determine if they are creative, unique or experimental enough to be released as a Humble Original distributed worldwide through Humble Bundle. Apart from this, the winner of the award will also get $15,000 prize to help them reach different milestones throughout the development of their game. $7,000 of this prize money will be given to them immediately to help relieve the cost of the new title.

The finalists for the Humble BIG New Talent Award will be revealed a few days before BIG Festival kicks off later this month. The winner of the prize will be announced on June 28 during the awards ceremony at the BIG Festival.

BIG Festival 2019 is taking place later this month from June 26, 2019, to June 30, 3019 in Sao Paulo Brazil. The event will cover competition between national and international games with cash prizes, an exhibition of the selected games, awards ceremony, lectures, and business rounds.
