Blizzard Announces Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, More at BlizzCon 2019

BlizzCon 2019 is officially underway with Blizzard making some serious announcements during its first day. This year’s BlizzCon is one of the most controversial as well because of Blizzard’s stance on the whole Hong Kong situation and without any surprise, the president of the company, J. Allen Brack started the keynote with the company’s response to the whole controversy.

It did not do much to calm down the angry protestors outside the event however the remaining announcements were surely enough to make the fans really happy because Blizzard has announced one of the most awaited titles in its lineup. Since the event has just started and we have the whole weekend ahead of ourselves, the opening keynote brought us some serious gaming reveals and announcements. We have detailed all of them below.

Diablo IV

Blizzard has officially announced and revealed Diablo IV which was supposed to be announced at previous year’s BlizzCon and all we got was a lousy mobile game. However, Blizzard did not make the same mistake this year around and now we finally have confirmation that Diablo IV is in the works. The announcement came via two trailers which showed the antagonist of the title and the classes featured in the new game.

It turns out that Lilith from Diablo and Diablo II is making a comeback in Diablo IV as well as the main antagonist. The game will feature five distinct regions and to travel around these large regions, players will have mounts in the game as well. The game will feature five classes to choose from and so far Blizzard has only revealed three classes Druid, Barbarian and Sorceress. The game is being developed for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Overwatch 2

Blizzard has also revealed Overwatch 2 which is going to be the second title in its multiplayer shooter franchise. It will follow the same 6v6 PvP formula from the first game however it will feature PvE as well with new Story and Hero missions where players will be able to join hands and fight the AI-controlled enemies together.

Overwatch 2 will feature a lot of familiar faces however it will also feature some new heroes and Sojourn is the first hero to be revealed for Overwatch 2. Players will be able to transfer hero skins from the first game to the second. Blizzard plans to continue support for the first title however it will not get any more Archives event after the release of the second game.

Hearthstone: Descent of Dragons

Blizzard has also revealed a brand new expansion for its card game Hearthstone called Descent of Dragons. The expansion will not only bring new cards with it but also a brand new mode Hearthstone Battlegrounds in which eight players will join hands and fight AI opponents.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

Blizzard has also released a brand new trailer of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands which is the next expansion for World of Warcraft. The brand new expansion will add four new zones Bastion, Ardenweald, Maldraxxus and Revendreth to the game. Check out the trailer for the game below.
