Borderlands 2 Climbs to Top 5th Most Played Games on Steam

Borderlands 2 Steam

In a new report published by GitHyp, it has been revealed that Borderlands 2 is back in the list of top 5 most played games on Steam. Borderlands 2 was initially revealed in 2012 however Gearbox recently launched HD texture packs for the title giving it brand new HD visuals and this could be one of the reasons behind the high traffic.

After the recent announcement of Borderlands 3 coming to PC exclusively via Epic Games Store, fans of the franchise were extremely upset and they had started review-bombing Borderlands 1 and 2 on Steam to show their anger to the publisher. This angered the developer as well which led to the response where the head of Gearbox stated that releasing Borderlands 3 via Epic Games Store was indeed a better option than Steam.

Despite all this drama and controversy, it appears that fans of the series have gone back to playing the original titles in anticipation of the upcoming Borderlands 3. I have started the series myself from the original Borderlands and I am loving the new UHD textures. It seems like Borderlands 2 has attracted the most traffic which has led it to into the top 5 most played games on Steam.

For me, Borderlands 2 is the best among the series with 1 lacking content and Pre-Sequel lacking enough action. It still holds its place in Steam’s top 50 most played games even after seven years. Gearbox also had a massive sale recently on Borderlands: The Handsome Collection which includes Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and all their DLC ever released. The whole package was discounted by a massive 74% which led to increased sales on Steam even now.

CEO of Gearbox also explained the reason behind why they chose to release Borderlands 3 exclusively via Epic Games Store. The gameplay reveal of Borderlands 3 is arriving May 1.

Free UHD packs for all Borderlands titles are now out while Borderlands 3 is slated to release on September 13, 2019, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store.
